Biographical Sketch:

As the leader of the Quantitative Wildlife Ecology Research Lab at the Biodiversity Research Institute, Dr. Adams studies the ecology of birds and bats, the distributions and movements of birds, the response of birds and bats to environmental change, the effects of contaminants on birds and bats, data synthesis, and conservation decision-making. His research on waterbird distributions and movements has led to advances in understanding risk to offshore development (Condor 117:485-493; MEE 10:1454-1468; EMA 191:817) and his contaminants research found new sources of exposure (ETC 37:166-174), evaluated the role of climate in exposure trends (Ecotox 29:1843-1861), and quantified the effects of exposure on migratory behavior (Ecotox 29:1240-1253). Finally, his work on decision-making (Condor 123:3) and data synthesis (PLoS One 16(11); BR in press) has informed conservation decision support for multiple systems and species. Dr. Adams contributes to conservation-oriented groups as the Chair of the Gulf of Mexico Avian Monitoring Network, and is a member of Regional Wildlife Science Collaborative Bird and Bat Subcommittee and the Atlantic Marine Birds Cooperative. Dr. Adams has been on the last three American Ornithological Society Meeting Coordination Committees to lead workshop coordination and recently transitioned to the chair of Travel and Presentation Award Committee. He has co-organized symposia and workshops for the American Ornithological Society and Offshore Wind State of the Science Workshop, worked as a guest editor for the Northeastern Naturalist, and peer-reviewed many manuscripts for various journals.
