Biographical Sketch:
Rebecca L. Som Castellano is Professor of Sociology and Director of Human-Environment Systems in the School of the Environment at Boise State University. Rebecca received her PhD in Rural Sociology from the Ohio State University, and has been at Boise State University since 2013. She engages in interdisciplinary and mixed methods research, and prioritizes community engagement in her scholarship. Her current work focuses on 1) experiences with and perceptions related to pesticide use and exposure among Latina farmworkers in Southern Idaho, 2) understanding challenges to sustainability for farmers from refugee backgrounds in the Boise community, and 3) land use change, including concern with the development of agricultural land and sagebrush steppe in Idaho.
