Biographical Sketch:
Dr. Julia Guimond is an Assistant Scientist in the Department of Applied Ocean Physics and Engineering at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution. Prior to starting her position at WHOI, she was an NSF Postdoctoral Fellow at Dalhousie University. Julia received her PhD from the University of Delaware in 2020 and her BS from Brown University in 2013. Julia s a groundwater hydrologist studying interactions between coastal aquifers and the ocean. Groundwater is a vital resource for both coastal ecosystems and communities, but coastal groundwater is increasingly vulnerable to climate change impacts affecting both terrestrial and marine environments. Guimond’s research centers around the question: how will climate change alter coastal groundwater systems and dependent ecosystems? In a broader context, through interdisciplinary collaborations, Guimond seeks to address how changing groundwater dynamics will alter the movement and storage of carbon in the coastal zone.
