Biographical Sketch:
I joined BRI in 2022 as Mammal Program Director, where I develop and oversee BRI projects involving mammals focusing on conservation and mitigation. Originally from New Zealand, I grew up on Great Barrier Island and moved to Auckland to study biology at the University of Auckland. I have worked on a range of projects monitoring and tracking insects, reptiles, birds, and bats. I have conducted fieldwork in New Zealand, China, and South Africa during my graduate studies. After completing my Ph.D., I consulted with the Galapagos National Park Service to start their bat monitoring program. From 2018-2022, I was the bat biologist for the Division of Fish and Wildlife in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands. There I oversaw the Rota Island field office and the recovery efforts of the two native bat species.
Ongoing and Recent CESU Projects:
- Acadia National Park Bat surveys
- Myotis bat survey for Pike Hill Copper Mine
